How Accessible Are University Websites
in Poland?

We analyzed the websites of public and private universities to assess their digital accessibility. The results reveal significant barriers that make it difficult for people with disabilities to access essential academic information. Our report highlights the most common accessibility issues and provides insights on how institutions can improve their websites

Over 60% of private universities and 50% of public universities in Poland have critical accessibility errors, creating significant barriers for users with disabilities. Many websites fail to meet basic WCAG 2.1 standards, making navigating key resources like admission forms, course materials, and contact information difficult.

In this report, we also share how people with disabilities navigate websites, the tools they use, and the barriers they face. We explore why digital accessibility is essential for education, ensuring that every student can fully participate in academic life regardless of ability.

It is also worth emphasizing that digital accessibility benefits not only people with disabilities but all users. Well-designed, readable, and intuitive websites are easier to navigate for everyone—regardless of age, digital skills, or the conditions in which they are used.

We hope that our report will serve as an impetus for further digital development and positive change—not only in the education sector but across the entire Polish internet.
